Northern Beaches Junior Strings
YOUR NEXT MUSICAL ADVENTURE
Join Northern Beaches Junior Strings and discover the joy of playing, learning and performing together.
MAKE MUSIC TOGETHER
NBJS is an exciting new ensemble for young violin, viola, cello and double bass players on the Northern Beaches. It's a chance to build ensemble skills, develop musical confidence, make friends and experience the thrill of performing together.
Part of the Northern Beaches Orchestra family, NBJS will be led by qualified string teachers, with mentoring from musicians of the Northern Beaches Youth Orchestra (NBYO). With several concert opportunities throughout the year, young musicians can develop their skills and experience the rewards of playing as part of an ensemble.
WHO CAN JOIN?
NBJS is primarily for primary-school-aged string players, with expressions of interest also welcome from players in the early years of high school.
The ensemble is aimed at players who are confident at approximately AMEB Preliminary up to Grade 3 standard or equivalent. Students should be comfortable reading music and playing written notes, and must have a private teacher for their instrument.
NBJS is designed to complement school music programs, not replace them. Where a school has its own strings program, participation in that program takes priority.
